Why I became an editor
I studied English and music at university, which led to journalism and inspired my love for reading. After editing my dad's book, I thought I could do it professionally! I love helping others and perfecting things, so editing is ideal for me. I love the benefits of freelancing too.
Background and experience
Since graduating, I've been a full time DJ and music producer. I've worked in a record store, music journalism, food journalism, events management, sound and lighting, and video advertising. Most of my work was lost during the Covid-19 crisis, so I decided to try something new.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love the satisfaction of a well put together sentence and the process of rephrasing a bad one. I adore descriptive language—when it's done beautifully—and have lots of experience in referencing, having used both Harvard and MLA in my university courses. My real passion is music, so any time reading or editing encounters that, I am particularly stimulated.
Favorite book:
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Hobbies:
I'm either cooking, baking bread, working on music, traveling, or DJing.
Editing tips:
I have a set workflow and order that I do things in. That leaves no room for error.
