Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA because it's the one I am the most familiar with.
Why I became an editor
After the COVID-19 lockdown, I realized I wanted to switch gears and work from home. Becoming a proofreader was the perfect fit! I have always loved reading, and finding and correcting errors is satisfying.
Background and experience
I worked as a professional nanny and a part time yoga teacher for most of my adult life. I also worked as a caregiver for the elderly with dementia. My biggest passion is working in animal rescue and fostering dogs. I'm also involved in social justice and human rights issues. When my husband returned to school, I would proofread his essays for him, and I decided to turn that skill into a career.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love the feeling of successfully helping a writer improve their work. I enjoy having the opportunity to read things I otherwise wouldn't have read.
Favorite book:
My favorite book is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm usually doing something that involves rescue dogs. I also love camping, kayaking, and dancing.
Editing tips:
I find it helpful to read the document out loud. This has helped me to spot grammar errors more easily.
