Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA because it is the one I most familiar with.
Why I became an editor
While studying statistics at university, I developed a meticulous attention to detail. I worked as a statistician for many years before staying home to raise my children. This is when I started reading more. I would often notice grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors in a variety of types of writing. I wanted to help authors polish off their writing. So, I began taking proofreading courses, which confirmed my interest in becoming a proofreader.
Background and experience
Ashan Hampton (Director of Onxy Online Education & Training) said about me, “Jackie Donner has not only enrolled in one or more of my professional writing courses but also performed proofreading services on a project that included web content, digital media, and print resources. I appreciate Jackie’s services on the project and willingness to invest in the development of her proofreading skills through continued education and practice.”
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy the ease of reading through materials without interruptions from grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors. I want to help others provide their readers with an enjoyable reading experience that satisfies my attention to detail.
Favorite book:
The Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling is my favorite set of books.
Hobbies:
In my free time, when not proofreading, I enjoy crocheting, doing puzzles, or reading.
Editing tips:
I refer to my proofreading checklist. I also go through a document three times, making changes each time. On the third pass, I enlarge the font and read the text out loud to catch any final errors.
