Why I became an editor
I've always loved to read, write, and edit. I have degrees in Communication/Journalism and Publishing, so my formal education is steeped in good writing and editing. Since my career has taken me in a different direction (event planning), I wanted an outlet for my love of editing. I also love that I can help others make their writing better.
Background and experience
Over my 15-year career, I've worked in media relations, communications, and event planning for municipal governments, the publishing industry, and the real estate finance industry.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love being able to help someone gain confidence by knowing their writing is the best it can be. Editing and proofreading is a great outlet for my love of words.
Favorite book:
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling is my favorite series of books.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I can be found reading, watching my favorite television shows, cross stitching, or traveling.
Editing tips:
When I first open a document, I like to read it through once without making too many changes. This helps me to get a sense of what the document is about.
