Favorite referencing style
I am most familiar with the AMA referencing style, having used it in my publications in medical journals.
Why I became an editor
As a postgraduate teacher, I have had to edit and proofread the theses of my students, many of whom did not have English as the medium of instruction in school. I have been doing this for the last 30 years.
Background and experience
During my tenure as a faculty member of pediatrics, I have published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. I am on the editorial board of the journal Reports and Research in Tropical Medicine (DovePress) and have also been a peer-reviewer.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I tend to proofread everything in sight, including billboards and menus in restaurants. I enjoy proofreading and editing health-related publications. I have a lot of experience in AMA referencing, and I am also proficient in APA.
Favorite book:
I like reading Vikram Seth and Arundhati Roy. However, I must confess, I have been hooked on crime fiction since I retired.
Hobbies:
I work with an NGO, the Kidney Foundation for Children (of which I am a founder member). I also enjoy trekking.
Editing tips:
I like to read the document a couple of times before I start to get a general feel for the article.
