1) Cling Film Double Glazing
If you’re stuck with single pane windows, you’ll know that they let the heat out. But did you know that you can make them much more efficient by taping cling film to them?
For an efficient heat trap, cover all the cracks in the windows. If you still want to open your windows, just cover the panes.
2) Get Thick Curtains
It’s really simple, but long thick curtains can make a massive difference to how warm a room is. Try lining curtains with fleece to help insulate your room even more.

3) Get Some Snakes!
Not real ones! Stuffed ‘snake’ shapes placed at the bottom of draughty doors are another great way to save some pennies. These can be free. Try stuffing an old tight leg with some rags. If you’re feeling crafty, stick on some eyes and a nose too!
4) Tin Foil Radiators
Did you know that walls soak up massive amounts of heat? Placing a sheet of tin foil behind your radiator reflects the heat waves back into the room. Science in action!
5) Make a Rice Pillow
When you’re studying, you’ll often find you get cold feet. One top tip for this is to make a bag, fill it with rice and microwave it.
