Favorite referencing style

APA is my favorite referencing style because I find it the simplest to work with.

Why I became an editor

Even as a teenager, my peers would often ask me to proofread their essays. This was never a bother. My long-time love of editing led me to pursue it as a career. I studied English in university to improve my writing skills. I studied philosophy to sharpen my attention to detail. All the while, I provided editing help to any of my peers who asked for it, building up a specialized knowledge of grammar’s finer points. I hope to apply all this knowledge as I work to make your writing shine.

Background and experience

Previously, I worked as an intern editor for the Center for Research on Vermont (CRVT). I worked to collect content and write stories for the CRVT newsletter, which went out roughly twice a month to subscribers via email. I also edited content written by other interns, which went into the newsletter.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I love proofreading, not only for the satisfaction of bringing out the best in a piece of text, but also because it allows me to learn new things. Proofreading a variety of subjects means getting to read about things I may never have thought to read about otherwise. Continuing to learn about many different things simply makes you a more balanced human being.

Editing tips:

If possible, read the work you are editing aloud, especially the most technical sections. This will help you to focus and allow you to hear some errors that you may have missed from reading silently.
