Why I became an editor
You know the person who calls a business to inform them that their sign is misspelled, who insufferably corrects your grammar, and who carries a red pen with them at all times? I am that person. The written word is near and dear to my heart, and I want to help you make your writing the best it can be.
Background and experience
I have extensive experience editing and proofreading business documents, manuals, and policies. I have edited newsletters for social organizations, proofread academic papers, and edited creative writing.
Why I love proofreading and editing
It is so satisfying to make a document clear, precise, and easily readable. I love the hunt for those small, overlooked mistakes and omissions. It's also a lot of fun to read other people's writing and hear their voices, not to mention getting to read about such a wide variety of topics.
Favorite book:
It's too hard to pick just one! The best book I've read lately would have to be The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. There's a magic library!
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I can usually be found outside camping or hiking. I also love playing with my dog Ranger, trying out a new recipe, or having a cocktail with friends.
Editing tips:
When I first look at a document, I do a quick read through to get a sense of the author's style. It's helpful to know if there may be terms I'm not familiar with or subjects that are new to me.
