Favorite referencing style
APA is my favorite, but only because I have used it more often. I am happy to use any of them.
Why I became an editor
When I needed to rebuild my career, proofreading seemed like a natural fit. I have always loved both reading and writing, and I would like my career to reflect this.
While writing novels, I researched writing techniques and what does (or does not) work. I enjoyed learning more about the English language and how to use it efficiently.
I have always preferred to communicate through the written word, and I relish the chance to help others express themselves.
Background and experience
My previous jobs were administrative positions for a bank and professional investigators. I spent many years as a carer, and I currently volunteer in a charity shop.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love polishing writing to a high standard. I particularly enjoy creative writing, and I like to assist in shaping it into its final form. I like working with any form of writing and helping to make it clear and consistent.
Favorite book:
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm usually just regular reading! I also love writing my own books, drawing, painting, learning new things, and solving puzzles.
Editing tips:
I read through the document to get a clear idea of its flow. I correct the obvious errors, then analyze it more deeply. I go through a checklist of potential issues, and then I read it once more.
