Favorite referencing style
My favourite referencing style is APA because it is the one I have the most experience with.
Why I became an editor
I have always enjoyed writing essays on several topics for my English classes in high school, as well as reading truly good books. When it was time to decide where I was headed next, I looked for ways to use and expand my knowledge of English, which I could not do in my country. But just when I started losing hope, I found it in proofreading, which became a way to pursue my passion and share my expertise with people who need it without having to leave my hometown and my family.
The Becoming a Proofreader course made me more and more confident about my decision and my skills with every new lesson. Proofreading is, to me, an art, and one that is just as compelling as writing itself.
Background and experience
My experience in proofreading and editing started with training at the Proofreading Academy and a role at Proofed.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love spotting the errors and the details that most people would normally ignore, thereby turning the piece of writing I work on into the best version it can be. I also enjoy applying strict grammar rules, along with subtle style guidelines, so that the document highlights the intricacies of the English language while preserving the author's voice.
Favorite book:
When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi.
Hobbies:
When I am not proofreading, I usually study or spend time with my family.
Editing tips:
When I am not sure whether a word is too complex for a certain context, I use the Google Ngram Viewer to get an idea of how often the term is used.
