Favorite referencing style
I am most familiar with APA, but I like AP too.
Why I became an editor
I have always been the type to correct grammar and spelling. Latin was one of my favorite subjects at school as a child, and that led to my interest in where words come from. This has been useful in both the medical and scientific research fields where I have worked. I decided that proofreading would be a great occupation for me because it comes naturally and it allows me to help people express themselves clearly in their writing.
Background and experience
I am currently a digital marketing apprentice, a role that has me editing and writing content for my mentor's website.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I like figuring out what people are trying to say and then helping them to get their message across more clearly and without errors. It is satisfying to remove spelling errors and typos, knowing that the document will be judged on the content rather than mistakes.
Favorite book:
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Hobbies:
I hang out with my two little girls and husband. We love being outside when the weather is nice. I also like crafts, reading a good book, or watching a great movie. I am also learning to code!
Editing tips:
I always read through the whole document first to make sure I understand its objective and tone. I also check first for double spaces. Reading out loud and reading it backward are helpful tricks.
