Why I became an editor
I studied psychology and education at university and have a particular interest in how people learn. Having worked in adult education for over 20 years, I am experienced in a range of subjects including teaching English. Over the years, I have enjoyed supporting higher education students in developing strategies to enhance their writing skills. Proofreading seemed a natural way to continue to support writers at all levels.
Background and experience
I have worked in adult education for over 20 years in a variety of roles including the management of several curriculum areas, supporting people back into work, teaching English and supporting dyslexic higher education students with their writing strategies.
Prior to this, my work was mainly secretarial including PA roles and even a stint in the armed forces!
Throughout my varied career, my work has always revolved around a love of English, and proofreading is another way of feeding that passion.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love the fact that every piece of writing is unique and I enjoy the variety of subject areas. Not only do I get the satisfaction of enhancing a piece of writing, I also come away feeling like I have learned something new!

Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I love to bake novelty cakes and walk in the local countryside.

I like to read through the document first to get an idea of the subject matter and the style of the writing.
