Favorite referencing style
APA is my favourite, as I am most familiar with this style.
Why I became an editor
Proofreading is something I have always done without realising I was doing it. At school, I really enjoyed writing, spelling, and punctuation. As an adult, I notice grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors everywhere! I took the Becoming A Proofreader course through Knowadays and learnt so much. There's always something new to learn in the world of proofreading.
Background and experience
My job as a trainer and assessor involves writing lesson plans and risk assessments, which require a high level of detail and accuracy. I previously worked in a bank, which required precision (and plenty of patience).
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy looking for errors in written documents and improving the flow and clarity. I'm looking forward to helping others by using my skills to improve their writing.
Favorite book:
Chocolat by Joanne Harris. Chocolate and witchcraft in a sleepy French village. Do not read if on a diet.
Hobbies:
I love sewing, crafting, upcycling old furniture, working out, and spending time with my two little girls, two guinea pigs, and three chickens.
Editing tips:
After proofreading a document and fixing any errors, I like to have a break and do something else, then come back with fresh eyes. This allows me to find any mistakes I may have missed the first time.
