Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA, simply because it's my go-to for academic referencing!
Why I became an editor
I’ve always been fascinated by and had an aptitude for languages and linguistics, having excelled at English, French, and German at school. I love writing and I pride myself on my good grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Therefore, I have already undertaken various proofreading and editing projects for colleagues and friends, which were always very well received, and I’m now professionally qualified and available for proofreading and copyediting services.
Background and experience
I have proofread for the record label Snapper Records, which helped me to get used to working on diverse document types. I also copyedited two large zoological books for an individual client. I completed a course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and I have particular insight into the linguistic obstacles for people whose first language is not English, so I know what to look out for and how to correct it.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I am a self-confessed perfectionist and actively enjoy focusing on the minutiae of punctuation, grammar, and spelling, and I also enjoy making suggestions about word choice, phrasing, and sequencing. By proofreading and editing, I get to help someone succeed, whether in business, education, or personal goals, and I find that very rewarding.
Favorite book:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm probably out running, hiking, or playing Scrabble.
Editing tips:
It is important to keep your proofreading consistent. For example, if you’ve been using double quotation marks for quotes and singles for embedded quotes, be careful not to reverse this at any point.
