Favorite referencing style
I love working with AP Style because the manual is easy to navigate when I’m checking on an issue or have a question about something.
Why I became an editor
I studied human resources development in college with a focus on training and development. My first professional job after college was as a courseware developer for a large training company. I have worked in a variety of industries, including automotive, nonprofit, and legal. My background includes creating training materials for automotive clients, working in the nonprofit sector as a publications specialist, and working as a law librarian.
Background and experience
I have experience writing, editing, and proofreading business, nonprofit, and corporate documents. I have also edited and proofread academic documents and I have proofread and copyedited legal marketing materials and reports.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I have a passion for putting things in order. I love taking a business article, term paper, or essay and making it shine. I have a background in different industries, including a health nonprofit, automotive companies, academia, and law. As a lifelong learner, I enjoy working as a proofreader and editor.
Favorite book:
One of my favorite authors is Tony Hillerman. He writes Navajo Tribal Police detective novels that paint a picture of the American Southwest and Native Americans while telling a thrilling story.
Hobbies:
When I am not working, I like spending time with family, traveling, hiking, swimming, and genealogy.
Editing tips:
I work with the door to my office closed so I am not disturbed. Once I am finished, I take a break and come back to the project later to read it again, looking for anything that might be an issue.
