Favorite referencing style
APA style is my favorite because it makes the most sense to me and I've used it the most.
Why I became an editor
I worked in the medical field for 13 years before staying home to homeschool my kids. I decided to pursue editing as a career because I enjoy helping people and I've always enjoyed reading and writing. And since I have a keen eye for detail, editing is right up my alley!
Background and experience
I worked as a Medical Assistant for 11 years where I wrote, edited, and proofread standard work documents and chart notes. I worked as a scribe, which involved drafting provider chart notes during patient exams. I also wrote patient instruction sheets. After this, I was promoted to the supervisor/manager level where I wrote budget sheets, employee reviews, and worked successfully on meeting deadlines. I am currently editing a fiction novel, which has included several rounds of editing.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love reading someone else's writing and helping it to become the masterpiece they dreamt it would be. I also enjoy the nitty gritty details of it all. It's so satisfying to me!
Favorite book:
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
Hobbies:
I love Disneyland! When I'm not proofreading, I'm probably dreaming about my next trip.
Editing tips:
I always read through a document before I begin making any changes. That way, I can get a sense of what the author is trying to say, along with their voice and style.
