Favorite referencing style
I enjoy the Harvard and APA referencing styles but can adapt to any preferred referencing styles.
Why I became an editor
I studied speech and language therapy at university. I have always been fascinated by the complexity of the English language, and I gained more insight while supporting children with communication and language difficulties.
I am an avid reader, and coming across errors in novels and other written materials made me want to help writers ensure their work is presented in the best professional way.
Background and experience
Over the years, I have proofread for family and friends: a self-help book, a university dissertation, business websites, job proposals, job descriptions, and business emails.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love reading and take joy in identifying and correcting written errors. I would love the opportunity to assist writers by eliminating mistakes and ensuring their works adhere to the chosen style guides so that their works are presented in the most professional and respectable way.
Favorite book:
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Hobbies:
When I am not proofreading, I could be rock climbing or playing with my young children, and after their bedtime, I will often crochet amigurumis and critters for the Octopus of a Preemie charity.
Editing tips:
Before getting stuck into making any adjustments, it is important to read through the whole document to get its "feel" and only make mental corrections.
