Favorite referencing style
APA referencing is my favorite right now because it’s the style I’m the most familiar with and it also seems to be the easiest.
Why I became an editor
Misspelled words always jump out at me from the page. That was my first hint that I might like to become a proofreader. I also love to read, and proofreading gives me the opportunity to read about a variety of new and interesting subjects. At the same time, I’m able to help someone produce a completed product that they can be proud of.
Background and experience
I have years of experience proofing papers and reports at work. I am detail-oriented and feel satisfaction from ensuring that written work is correct and concise. During my 15 years in a sales position, I worked out of my house. This required me to do all of my own reports, emails, and quotes for my customers. It was very important to me that these were done accurately and in a timely manner.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love to read and learn new things. Proofreading provides me with a constant supply of interesting material to read. I enjoy reading the document first, then editing and/or proofreading it to help the client present their writing in the best possible manner.
Favorite book:
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
Hobbies:
When I’m not proofreading, I like to spend time traveling, visiting with friends and family, and spoiling my grandkids!
Editing tips:
I use a very detailed checklist. It takes me through every step in the proofreading process, and I check off each step as it’s completed.
