Why I became an editor
I studied English at university and have had poems published in multiple magazines. While studying, I spent time helping other students with their work, and I learned that I love proofreading. Now, it’s an ideal job that includes reading, writing, and helping other people!
Background and experience
At university, I participated in many writing groups that helped ignite my passion for proofreading. I also enjoy helping my friends and family make their writing the best it can be, whether it's for fun or for work.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love the process of making a piece of writing perfect. I especially enjoy proofreading creative work, such as short stories, memoirs, and poetry, as well as writing about the arts. I have lots of experience with the MLA, APA, and Chicago styles.
Favorite book:
My favorite book(s) is the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I read it as a kid, and now, it’s an old favorite.
Hobbies:
When I’m not proofreading, I love playing with my puppy, reading, writing poetry, and traveling.
Editing tips:
When I first open a document, I read it over to get a sense of the tone and the overall ideas that the author is expressing. I keep them in mind as I dig into the details of the piece.
